Residents' fury as rejected development could get green light

Labour bosses could give the go ahead to a housing development that was rejected by residents in 2015.

Newport City Homes (NCH) are appealing to Labour bosses, who manage the City’s planning and development, to squeeze 8 flats into the space on Eastfield Road where they had previously demolished garages. This is the same application that residents rejected last year.

Following a large number of objections and pressure from the local Lib Dem team, the application was withdrawn. Many suspected that it was only a matter of time before the application was resubmitted. Unfortunately, that has now happened. NCH have slightly modified the plans, reducing the number of flats from 8 to 6, and resubmitted. However, the changes fail to address the majority of the problems with the previous application

The details of the planning application can be seen by going here. If you would like to comment on the application, time is very limited. It is our understanding that comments need to be received by Wednesday 9th November.
