Residents around Eastfield Road have raised concerns over the development of eight one bedroom flats on the site of a number of former garages.
The garages were demolished without notice, with residents later discovering planning permission had been submitted for eight one bedroom flats. After failing to get a response from local councillors the residents organised a petition and submitted their concerns to the council. Speaking about resident’s concerns local activist Michael Enea said “I was contacted by locals who were concerned about the number of flats. It’s not that we disagree with new development but it just isn’t suitable for eight flats. I will continue to keep an eye on the development and hope Newport City Homes will propose something more suitable.” The council’s planning committee have yet to decide on the application.
