Employees need clarity for the future

Newport, Wales – Paul Halliday, Welsh Liberal Democrat candidate for Newport East has called on Tata Steel to be clear and upfront with employees after their decision to sell their UK steel interests. Speaking about the news Paul Halliday said:

“This news brings a lot of uncertainty to employees working for Tata steel. The site at Llanwern continues to be a major employer in the region and this news has far reaching consequences. Right now we need to make sure Tata are as clear as possible with employees about their future.”

COUNCIL say NO to crossing

A campaign to get a crossing point built on Caerleon Road close to the junction with Beaufort Road has been rejected by Newport Council.

Local residents for some time have voiced concerns that there is no safe crossing point along this part of Caerleon Road.  The Council in their reply have said a lack of money and physical site constraints mean a crossing cannot be provided.
